Texas hooked its biggest recruit of the Steve Sarkisian era when quarterback Arch Manning, the No. 2 overall prospect in the ESPN 300, signed with the Longhorns on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound star from Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans is the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning. His father, Cooper Manning, played wide receiver at Ole Miss.
At Newman, Arch Manning was a four-year starter, throwing for 8,599 yards and 115 touchdowns with 20 interceptions while rushing for 1,155 yards and 25 TDs. He broke broke Eli's school record for passing yards (7,268) and Peyton's for TDs (93).

Would be very very hard to be better than Peyton. Steep mountain to climb there....

Eli was pretty average. at or below .500 as a starter.(don't remember which it was but close either way). Caught fire to win 2 super bowls on what were pretty mediocre teams all season before play-offs.

His best team was actually the next season after when i believe they beat the Patriots in the SB. Went 13-3 that season then actually got knocked out their first play-off game.

I believe Eli only made the play-offs 3 times in his career.

Just read 4 QBS played in this game for texas and arch finished dead last out of the 4

I’m so not surprised . Been saying for 2 years I don’t get the hype . Maybe he will prove me wrong but the next time he impresses me will be the first time .

It took the head coach all of about 5 seconds after the game was over to name Ewers the starter . And Ewers is very average as well . They say the other freshmen QB is the one who stole the show

That’s pretty telling .
Didn’t even wait till the fall practices to name the starter .

Ewers named the starter….
Steve Sarkisian is set on his starting quarterback as Texas closes the book on spring practice for 2023. Quinn Ewers has been named the Longhorns' QB1, Sarkisian shared after Saturday's Orange-White spring game.

A former five-star prospect from Southlake (Texas) Carroll, Ewers spent just four months in Columbus after reclassifying from the 2023 recruiting class before entering his name into the transfer portal.
He was the fourth-string quarterback for much of his freshman year behind C.J. Stroud, Kyle McCord and Jack Miller and appeared in just one game, handing off on consecutive snaps to end the 56-7 win over Michigan State last November.
After choosing the Longhorns, the program he grew up rooting for and initially committed to during the recruiting process, he battled redshirt sophomore Hudson Card for the starting spot during spring practices and the first few weeks of fall camp.
Card actually started Texas’ season opener last year, but gave way to Casey Thompson – who has since transferred to Nebraska – after just two games. He finished the year with 590 yards passing and five touchdowns compared to one interception.
Ewers, meanwhile, will throw his first collegiate pass against the Warhawks, who went 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Sun Belt last season, before welcoming top-ranked Alabama to Austin on Sept. 10.

This could be Chris Simms vs Major Applewhite all over again .

Sims was the #1 recruit in the nation . Son of an NFL all time great but could not beat applewhite

Just watched the tape of todays game
Brutal just like the other 3 times I’ve seen him

He is now a dog to be the #2 QB at this point

He did not even start the spring game on his side .
Another freshman got the start over him.

For that to happen he really had to suck in practice .

He will be transferring to Ole Miss next season

Texas QB Arch Manning inks first NIL deal as member of Longhorns.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning and trading card company Panini America announced an exclusive name, image and likeness deal on Tuesday.
Manning is the nephew of Peyton and Eli, the grandson of Archie and the son of Cooper Manning. He was a highly-touted high school recruit, ranked No. 5 overall in the 2023 class and signed with Texas over some of the biggest programs in the country.
This partnership is Manning's first NIL agreement and is a multi-year deal that will see Panini create trading cards and will include exclusive autographs from Manning. The first card to be released will be a one-of-one Prizm black autographed card that will be auctioned on Panini's website.
All of the proceeds from the sale will go to St. David's Healthcare and St. David's Foundation in Austin, Texas.
"Getting my first Panini trading card is something I couldn't have imagined growing up," Manning said in a statement. "Working with Panini to have my first trading card benefit the larger community is special. Helping children live healthy and fulfilling lives is something that has always been important to my family,"
The winner of the auction will also get to participate in a meet and greet with Manning, catch passes from the quarterback and also participate in the check presentation to the beneficiary of the auction.
Through the agreement, Manning will be included in NIL trading card products from Panini, and will also collaborate to develop his own NIL cards throughout the terms of the contract.
He only recently joined the team after signing with the Longhorns in December, 2022, and isn't expected to start this season. His name and notoriety, however, have caused fanfare and interest in his future college career and has now led to this agreement.
Manning joins his teammate, quarterback Quinn Ewers, in signing an exclusive deal with the card company that will give Panini the rights to produce their trading cards.

Trading card of Texas QB Arch Manning auctioned off at $103K.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning sold his first trading card at auction on Saturday through Panini America's website and broke a record doing so.
Manning's one-of-one Prizm Black autographed card, produced by Panini, was auctioned off for charity and sold for $102,500. That is the highest selling card through the company's website, beating out a one-of-one Luka Doncic national treasures card that sold for $100,000.
All of the proceeds from the sale will benefit a Central Texas nonprofit with the help of St. David's HealthCare and St. David's Foundation. The winner of the auction is unknown, but will get to participate in a meet and greet with Manning, catch passes from him and take part in the check presentation for the proceeds.
The sale was part of Manning's first name, image and likeness deal he has agreed to since signing with Texas in the 2022 class. He was the No. 3 prospect overall and is the son of Cooper Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli and the grandson of Archie.
While the auction was for charity, Manning's NIL deal with Panini will include trading card products and he will also collaborate with the company to develop his own cards.

Who bought it? His father or grandfather?
